As it does every month, Microsoft has released an optional update that introduces new features set to roll out in the next official update. This time, the focus is on Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2, with the KB5053657 update.

Main Features
The KB5053657 update for Windows 11 brings several notable enhancements. One of the key additions is the introduction of new “main cards,” which provide an easy way to view essential system specifications like your processor, RAM, and storage. You can access these cards by navigating to Settings > System > About. Additionally, the update fixes a display issue affecting name visibility for Japanese users in the accounts section.
In terms of typing improvements, the Windows 11 touch keyboard now includes a game controller layout, featuring optimized buttons and vertically aligned keys for smoother navigation. The update also resolves an issue where CTFMon.exe would become unresponsive when copying data from certain applications.
Accessibility and customization have also been enhanced. Windows 11 now features a new system tray icon that makes it easier to access emojis and other system panels. Furthermore, Voice Access has been expanded to support both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, allowing users to navigate and interact with Windows using voice commands in these languages.
Other improvements and corrections
In addition to the new features introduced in the KB5053657 update, Microsoft has expanded font compatibility and optimized system performance. Windows 11 now includes CJK fonts for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, improving readability and accessibility in these languages. Additionally, a new feature has been added to File System Filters, allowing applications to receive change notifications more efficiently and reducing input and output operations.
Regarding system stability, the update resolves an issue that prevented certain GET-HELP troubleshooters from running in remote desktop sessions. Other improvements include updates to country configuration profiles and mobile operator settings, ensuring better connectivity for users.
Lastly, the update fixes a USB-connected dual-mode printer bug that sometimes produces incorrect or unwanted text. It also addresses a critical file system error that could trigger a blue screen when redirecting a user profile to a V2 virtual hard drive (VHDX).
