A new bug in Windows 11 24H2 has been causing quite a scare for PC and laptop gamers—not visually, but audibly. The issue arises when the volume unexpectedly jumps to 100%, startling anyone using a USB digital audio converter.
Microsoft has acknowledged this bug, which can occur with devices like the Creative Sound BlasterX G6 USB. The problem is triggered in specific scenarios, such as manually putting your PC into Sleep Mode and then waking it up, or quickly connecting and disconnecting the audio device.
The root of the issue lies in the synchronization of the AudioEndpointBuilder service, according to Microsoft. While the company is actively working on a fix, they haven’t provided a timeline for when the update will be rolled out. Until then, users might need to proceed with caution when using USB audio devices on Windows 11 24H2.
Problems for gamers with Windows 11 24H2
It’s worth noting that the sudden volume spike wasn’t the only issue affecting gamers who updated to Windows 11 version 24H2.
Back in October, the update caused another bug that left 8.36GB of cache data on Western Digital SSDs, leading to the dreaded blue screen error. To make matters worse, these files couldn’t be deleted via the recycle bin, adding to the frustration. This was another issue Microsoft had to address urgently to minimize disruption for affected users.
