After several days of frustration with my Copilot+ PC not receiving Windows Insider updates, I finally came across some exciting news. Microsoft continues refining Windows 11, introducing features to enhance the user experience.
The latest Build 22635.4950 brings two key updates for Beta Channel testers in the Windows Insider Program:
- Drag Tray for File Sharing – A new feature that makes file sharing more intuitive, allowing users to drag and drop items effortlessly.
- Enhanced Start Menu Views – The “All” section of the Start Menu now includes two new layout options, improving organization and accessibility.
These updates highlight Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to making Windows 11 more user-friendly and efficient.
Drag Tray: Share files with greater efficiency
The new Drag Tray is designed to streamline and speed up file sharing in Windows 11. According to the Windows Insider team, this feature makes sharing files easier and faster than ever.
The Drag Tray activates when you drag a file from File Explorer or the desktop to the top of the screen. Once triggered, an interface appears, displaying optimized apps for content sharing, such as WhatsApp, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. Additionally, clicking the “More…” button opens the classic Windows sharing window, providing access to more options.
This update enhances workflow efficiency and reflects Microsoft’s commitment to integrating seamless and user-friendly features. Whether for business productivity or personal use, the Drag Tray reinforces Windows 11’s position as a modern, competitive, and efficient operating system in today’s fast-paced tech landscape.
New views in the start menu: custom organization
Another notable addition is the introduction of two new views on the “All” page of the Start Menu, designed to improve app organization and accessibility.
- Grid View – Displays applications alphabetically, making it easier to quickly find specific programs.
- Category View – Groups apps by functionality and usage, allowing for a more intuitive way to access tools based on specific needs.
This dual-view system offers greater flexibility, letting users choose the layout that best suits their workflow and preferences. The change especially benefits touchscreen devices, enhancing navigation and making app interaction more seamless and efficient.
