Windows in Copilot+ PC Update the search bar to show OneDrive photographs

Microsoft has been steadily improving Windows, adding new features to enhance the user experience. While some recent decisions—like removing the free wallpaper download page—have sparked debate, the company has also introduced positive changes, such as updating the Edge extensions website.

Thurrott’s reports taught us that Microsoft is planning an update for the Windows search bar on Copilot+ PC devices. This update will allow users to quickly find their OneDrive photos directly from the search bar, making the process much more efficient. As expected, AI will play a key role in enhancing this feature, continuing Microsoft’s trend of integrating AI into its ecosystem.

As we mentioned earlier, Microsoft has been rolling out several new features for Windows, and one of the most exciting updates involves the search bar. The company has improved search results with AI in Copilot+ PC devices, and it’s now adding the ability to search for photos.

This feature has already started rolling out in Windows 11 Build 26120.3291 for beta and Dev channels, allowing select users to test it before it reaches the stable version.

While this isn’t entirely new—previous test versions already allowed Copilot+ PC users to search for OneDrive photos via the Windows 11 File Explorer—this update enhances the experience by enabling AI-powered natural language search directly from the search bar.

According to the Windows Insider team, search results will now include locally stored photos and OneDrive images using either natural language or specific keywords.

Microsoft continues to refine Windows search by integrating AI, making it easier than ever to find photos stored in OneDrive or on your device. Of course, users will need to be signed in to their Microsoft account and have an internet connection for cloud-based searches.

Beyond search improvements, this Windows 11 test build enhances Windows Recall on Copilot+ PC devices, automatically deleting all captured snapshots. An update to the Snipping Tool in the test channels also introduces a new feature that lets users set precise start and end times for screen recordings.

There’s no doubt that this Windows 11 update brings plenty of exciting changes. And as always, users are continuing to discover hidden tweaks that Microsoft hasn’t officially detailed yet, making this rollout even more intriguing.
