Copilot in Windows keeps getting smarter with each update, gaining new features and deeper integration into Microsoft’s operating system. A while ago, we mentioned that ChatGPT 4.5 would soon be coming to Copilot, enhancing its capabilities and improving its responses—but that’s not all.
Recently, Microsoft confirmed that a new feature is being rolled out to Windows Insider users, designed to make Copilot even more seamless to use without disrupting your workflow. The most exciting part? Voice control allows users to interact with Copilot hands-free.
This update further cements Copilot as one of the most advanced and intuitive AI assistants available. Let’s check out the details!
“Press to Talk” is the new function that reaches Windows Insider users and will be integrated into Copilot
More and more Windows users are discovering and being amazed by Copilot’s AI-powered capabilities as it integrates seamlessly into the Microsoft ecosystem.
With Copilot, users can do more than ask questions—they can generate images, control certain Windows functions, and interact more effectively. But that’s not all. A new feature is on the way to enhance the voice control experience.
According to a post from @MicrosoftInsiderProgram on X, Microsoft has begun rolling out this new functionality to Windows Insider users.
A look at Microsoft’s official blog reveals that this feature, called “Press to Speak,” will allow users to control and interact with Copilot using voice commands, all triggered by a quick keyboard shortcut.
How Does “Press to Speak” Work?
Microsoft explains that users can activate voice control by pressing ALT + SPACEBAR and holding the spacebar for at least 2 seconds. If the user doesn’t say anything after activating the feature, Copilot will automatically end the session.
This new addition makes Copilot even more intuitive and accessible, enhancing its role as a powerful AI assistant for Windows users.
This feature is perfect for users who want quick, hands-free access to Copilot’s responses without disrupting their workflow. It allows them to focus on tasks while seamlessly interacting with the AI assistant.
The “Press to Speak” feature will be available starting with Copilot version 1.25024.100.0 and later. It will gradually roll out to Windows Insider users via the Microsoft Store, with wider availability over time.
While the rollout will happen in stages, this update will significantly enhance the user experience, making Copilot even more intuitive and efficient for everyday use.
