Microsoft has launched its Xbox TV app on selected Amazon Fire TV Stick models. This app offers access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, providing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users a new way to play anywhere with just a controller and their Fire TV device.
Microsoft boosts the value of the Fire TV Stick with a Game Pass
Initially, the Xbox app will be available only on the Fire TV 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023). The app will function just like the one available on Samsung’s recent TVs and monitors. All you need is a compatible Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to stream Xbox games. Microsoft is making significant strides in the gaming industry with this move.
Additionally, Microsoft is working to enable Xbox Cloud Gaming to stream your entire Xbox library, not just the titles currently available on Game Pass. This feature is expected to roll out in the coming months, though some games might be excluded due to certain publishers’ preferences.
This launch marks the first time the Xbox app has been available on a device other than Samsung’s TVs and monitors. Microsoft is focusing on expanding the reach of its Xbox TV app to more devices rather than creating dedicated cloud gaming hardware. They have also partnered with Meta to launch an Xbox Cloud Gaming app for the Quest virtual reality headset. We can expect to see the Xbox app on even more devices in the future.
