YouTube has begun testing AI-generated reply suggestions for comments. This new feature provides channel owners with pre-written responses that align with their unique writing style. Currently, it’s only available to select content creators on mobile devices.
The AI reply tool is part of an update to the “Comments” tab, now renamed “Community,” in the YouTube Studio mobile app, where creators can access and utilize these suggested responses.
What are the characteristics of suggestions on YouTube
This AI-generated reply feature is optional and gives channel owners the ability to edit the suggestions before posting. If they choose to modify a suggestion, they can simply tap on it to make changes. If they want to use the suggestion as it is, they just need to publish it.
Importantly, other users won’t be able to tell whether the reply was created using AI or written manually.
Availability
YouTube has confirmed that this AI-powered reply suggestion feature is currently being tested by a limited group of channel owners through the mobile app. However, there is no official timeline for when the feature will be rolled out to all content creators on the platform.
Other functions
YouTube has introduced several new features for YouTube Shorts, its short-form video product. One of the key updates is the ability to create content up to three minutes in length, extending the previous time limit.
Additionally, YouTube is enhancing the Shorts experience with updates to the player, introducing new templates, and adding a dedicated “Shorts trends” page on mobile devices to help users discover popular content.
